Although exposure therapy is one of the most evidence-based treatments, it is widely misunderstood by non-clinical audiences. One major problem is the misconception that patients are forced into fear or distress. Another challenge is the surrounding stigma: many people still associate mental health treatment with weakness, failure, or shame, making them hesitant to ask for help. This campaign aims to communicate that exposure therapy is instead about helping people gradually and safely build confidence in facing their fears with structured support, while simultaneously reducing the stigma of seeking help.
For this proposal, we developed a cohesive visual identity that includes a poster series, a pamphlet, social media components, a website landing page, an explainer video, and a style guide.
Visually, the use of magnets illustrates how misconceptions and stigma can distance people from seeking help. Through the right exposure therapy, however, this separation can be overcome, leading to greater mental stability and improved well-being.
